UU Women and Religion
Since the 1977 Women and Religion Resolution was passed by the UUA General Assembly for all UU’s to consider the effects of patriarchy on religious practices and sexist assumptions the Women and Religion movement (which includes male feminists) has been raising the social consciousness within the UU movement to practice egalitarian complementarity.

Welcome message from Rev. Megan Foley

What Makes You Not a Buddhist
January 23rd: Rev. Megan Foley
Many UUs these days claim to be influenced by Eastern religions like Buddhism - even your minister!  Come today to explore what makes a person really a Buddhist - and what is just a Western misrepresentation of this ancient religion.

Imbolc
January 30: Anita Susi
Just what is Imbolc anyway? Imbolc is one of many names for an old mid-winter festival. Come find out what it's about and join in some lively drumming to wake up Mother Nature

It Doesn’t Have to Be That Way
February 6: Rev. Megan Foley
This sermon was purchased at last year’s auction by a church member who wants to know why so many mainstream Christian religions seem to be dominated by men, to the exclusion of women and their power and truth, even when more gender inclusion would be better for the religion and the world.  While we probably can’t answer that question fully, we can take a look at the earliest days of Christianity and see how its early promise regarding gender equality went off the rails – and how we might work to bring it back on track.

Happy Talk
February 13th:  Jim Wyckoff
Happy Talk is a service going back to South Pacific where Bloody Mary sings:

"Happy Talk,  Keep talking happy talk.  Talk about things you'd like to do.  You've got to have a dream.  If you don't have a dream, how you gonna make a dream come true."  Mid winter seems to be a good time for dreaming.  And Valentines Day is a special celebration of that.

Nourishing Our Spiritual Home
February 20: Rev. Megan Foley
When the Board of Trustees thought about where Sugarloaf is right now and what we need, the word “nourish” seemed the best fit.  At the start of this year’s Stewardship Campaign, come and hear how congregational life is all about feeding each other and, best yet, being fed in return by our church.
