It’s finally “MAY MADNESS!!” for our SCUU Congregation, and here is everything you need to know to participate in this festive, wonderful evening.
DATE, PLACE AND TIME: Saturday, May 31st 2008 at Cedar Lane UU Church, 9601 Cedar Lane in Bethesda, MD. The doors open and the Silent Auction begins at 6 PM, with the buffet (vegetarian items included) starting at 6:30. We’ll also have a cash bar with wine, beer and soda, as well as a dessert table, and well-known Wes Lanich entertaining us on the piano. After the Silent Auction closes around 7:30 or so, The Live Auction with “The Singing Auctioneer” Anne-Lynn Gross will begin at 8 PM.
COST AND METHODS OF PAYMENT: The tickets for both the buffet and the auction are $25. If you’re coming for the auctions only, the cost is $10. There are three ways to reserve your tickets: 1) Go to our website at www.scuu.org/benefit, and pay online by Paypal 2) Return the enclosed “Getting My Tickets” form in the addressed envelope included (thanks for using your own stamp) or 3) RSVP the number of tickets you want to Samantha Porter at missinglinks@verizon.net and pay at the door. We must let the caterer know the number of people for the buffet by May 28th, so please make sure we hear from you by that date. Since we are having wine and beer on the premises children are not allowed at the auction, but our own caregivers with be providing them with food, activities and movies.
WHAT CAN I CONTRIBUTE TO THE AUCTION? No adult clothes or large furniture accepted, but “unusual” items, jewelry, artwork of all kinds, good books, CDs, DVDs – all in excellent condition please. We want as many service and business donations as you can get. Services, dinners, excursions, concerts, vacation packages – all of these are very popular at auctions. We will also have a separate “Children’s Corner”, where other folks will be delighted with the gently-used clothes your children have outgrown. Also good are children’s books, DVDs and CDs, even VHS tapes, toys or stuffed animals (as long as they’re still in excellent condition) as well as small portable items, like car seats or strollers. No large items like beds or bookcases, please.
WHAT IS THE CUTOFF DATE? Because of the Memorial Day weekend, Chris Mauck (cmauck@conrad.org) is allowing us until 5 PM EST on Tuesday, May 27th.
She must have our auction item information by that time in order to compile the auction catalog. NO EXCEPTIONS. TUESDAY, MAY 27TH AT 5 PM EST.
This is going to be such a wonderful, fun evening - well worth spending time getting items ready to donate, and then having the fun of discovering there are things you want to buy! It’s a win-win opportunity for all of us, and we look forward to seeing you there!
